Social Studies 9B - NO CLASS TODAY. Finished active notes
about ideas that are present in the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms. Looked at the cartoon on pages 93-95. Reviewed ideas about
citizenship rights, duties and responsibilities. Students completed
questions 8-11 on the previous handout sheet; reviewed the answers as a
class. Students worked in partners to complete the worksheet containing
the chart about rights and associated responsibilities. This is to be
completed for next class.
Social Studies 9C - Reviewed worksheet about rights and associated
responsibilities. Discussed the two exceptions to rights held by people in Canada on page 97. Looked at the relationship between rights/responsibilities being a mirror image. For homework, students are to read pages 100-103, and using the interactive bookmark handed out in class, summarize the five case studies using the W-5 (& how) notes. This bookmark is due for tomorrow.
